Drexel x Shehu Award Winner
In our final count, the tallies showed Cassandra in the lead with 44 +1′s, Caroline with 43, and Brittany with 30. We’d like to extend a heartfelt “Thank you” to all of our contestants, voters, and the remarkably sociable and patient people who spread the word!
The Shehu Award recognizes excellence in fashion design. The winner of the Shehu Award is given support in developing a brand identity and strategy. We will develop and produce the collection as well as offer it for sale on our website. All profits will go to the student to assist them in growing their career and vision. An internship of 4-6 months is offered to the student in order for them to study the process of bringing an apparel brand to life.

A note and a word of apology/explanation: We realize and apologize for the fact that the +1 is a vote that you cast with a Google account. This is SHEHU’s first time running the Shehu x Drexel competition and our goal was to try something new and interesting to cross-promote the finalists (who all deserve some recognition) while keeping a fair way to make sure everyone had one and only one verifiable vote. It wasn’t the best call to spring this on new visitors who simply wanted to help choose our winner but do not have the time or inclination to set up a new Google account (as free, open to register, and useful as they are), and going ahead in the future we will definitely problem-solve the system more.
For those without Google accounts, the best thing you can do to help the finalist of your choice is simply tell a few people you know about them, and if you’d prefer we’ve provided a button to Facebook “Like” or “Send” their gallery so more people you know can see it. This year, we actually have a few more votes than expected so far (especially as the contest has been open for less than a week) and while we definitely regret any stress our newness at this has caused, we believe that counting and revealing the voting (open until August 1st!) will be exciting for anyone interested and involved in the fate of these three skilled artists.

Tickets can be bought for $25 (afternoon show) or $50 (evening show) cash or check in the lobby of Nesbitt Hall (33rd and Market Street) from 12-2pm Mon,Wed,Thurs, and Friday.
