Build the Product Operation

For a founder or growing product business that can make products, but does not yet have a reliable structure for doing it repeatedly.

  • Development sequence, calendars, roles, and approvals
  • Vendor, supplier, costing, and documentation practices
  • Sourcing, production, and fulfillment handoffs
  • Knowledge capture and repeatable operating practices

A product-development operation the company can continue to use—not merely a completed product.

Operational Realignment

For an established product business whose development decisions, internal roles, suppliers, sampling, approvals, and production handoffs have fallen out of sync.

  • Locate where product decisions and handoffs stall or repeat
  • Clarify who owns sampling, approvals, and production steps
  • Align supplier and vendor communication with internal work
  • Realign development practices and support the change

The operation the company already has moves together with greater clarity and reliability.

Founder-to-Organization Transition

For founder-led companies where too much knowledge, approval, communication, and institutional memory still lives with the founder.

  • Identify founder-dependent functions
  • Capture tacit knowledge and recurring decisions
  • Clarify roles and decision rights
  • Transfer capability while preserving valuable judgment

A more capable organization that no longer requires the founder to be the mechanism through which everything works.

League Collegiate Outfitters , Outside Consultant · 2012–2014

An unexpected sales signal revealed a different product problem.

During work spanning product and seasonal presentation, men's size-small T-shirts stood out as unusually strong sellers. Rather than reading that only as success within the men's assortment, Bela recognized a possible unmet need: women were crossing into men's product because the women's offer was not adequately serving them.

The work connected women's fit, silhouettes, fabrication, functionality and color with buyer presentation, imagery, sales tools and trade-show experience. League subsequently reported substantial growth in sales and new accounts, and the relationship continued across multiple seasons, including a later re-engagement.

Commonwealth Proper , Consultant · c. 2009

A better product needed a system capable of carrying it to market.

Commonwealth Proper began with a strong insight about fit in men's shirting, but the business was still early in developing the infrastructure required to make and sell the product repeatedly. Bela recognized that technical product development, production, sourcing, customer experience and commercialization could not be treated as separate problems.

Her work connected pattern and fit refinement with production relationships in Newark and New York, packaging and direct opportunities for customers to experience the product. A standardized fit reduced dependence on individually custom-made shirts and supported ready-to-sell purchasing at appointments and events.
